Between 14 and 18 of October 2009 a delegation of the Polish mining industry visited Indonesia. Kopex and Famur, producers of mining equipment, and Glink took part in the Mining Indonesia 2009 exhibition. As in previous years, the Promotion of Trade and Investment Section of the Embassy assisted in organizing a stand to promote Polish companies.

Kopex Mining Contractors, the Indonesian daughter-company of Kopex, had its own stand, which was highly popular with visitors. The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Purnomo Yusgiantoro, emphasized in his opening speech the enormous potential for the development of underground mining in Indonesia where opencast technology is still dominant.

During the working lunch with representatives of the Polish mining sector the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Tomasz Łukaszuk, encouraged Polish companies to take action to cooperate on a big Indonesian market. Mr. Łukaszuk also confirmed the readiness of the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Poland to support Polish presence in this market through export credits and tied loans. The Economic Section of the Embassy presented main articles of the new mining law and drafts of decrees.
